Choosing the healthiest carbohydrates, especially the whole grains, is important to your well-being. It is well-known that whole grains are important sources of fiber but newer research shows that health benefits can also be attributed to the vitamins ,minerals and antioxidants, and other plant chemicals found in them. A number of important studies have shown that eating whole grains provides protection from diabetes,cancer, and heart disease.In a long-term study of nearly 90,000 women, and in a similar study of about 44,000 men, those who consumed the most cereal fiber had about a 30 percent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Carbohydrates are classified according to their chemical structure and digestibility ;they are divided into two groups: 1.simple Carbohydrates 2.Complex carbohydrates.
1.simple Carbohydrates :-Simple carbohydrates, or sugars, can generally form crystals that dissolve in water and are easily digested.
Naturally occurring sugars are found in a variety of fruits, some vegetables , and honey. Processed sugars include table sugar, brown sugar, and molasses.
2.Complex carbohydrates:-Complex carbohydrates fibre and starch in legumes, vegetables ,grains.
